The 3rd in the series created by South Auckland's Hub for Indigenous Innovation & Growth, Te Ngahere, will push us into the realm of rebellion by exploring how our Indigenous people are traditionally innovative. Long before innovation became a buzzword in the startup world, Indigenous communities were developing sophisticated ways of adapting, problem-solving, creating and responding to the world around them. So what happens when we bring those ways of thinking into the conversation about AI?
In partnership with AUT, this AI Brunch will bring together perspectives from across the AI, innovation and Indigenous spaces to explore the relationship between Indigenous ways of knowing and emerging technology. Facilitated by Dan Walker, the kōrero will feature a diverse panel of speakers, including 'Anau Mesui Henry, co-owner of The Four Shells Kava Lounge, and Mihi Tibble of The Hina Collective, with two further speakers to be announced.
Together, the panel will challenge conventional ideas about what innovation looks like, who gets to define it, and what an AI future shaped by Aotearoa might look like.
Come along for a morning of kōrero, connection and kai as we explore what it means to rebel against the status quo, draw on the innovation already embedded in our whakapapa, and imagine new possibilities for the future of AI in Aotearoa.
Free parking is available on-site at Te Ngahere.
